Also within walking distance (10-15 minutes), there is the Fatih Mosque, a giant complex at the core of conservative Fatih district where an extremely genuine view of local religious life can be observed.

Technically yes, main tourist sites are within a "walkable" distance of about 25-30 minutes but through very busy streets. However, the Grand Bazaar (Kapalıçarşı) is much closer and can be reached within about 15-20 minutes walk up Ordu Street passing through the wholesale textile district of Laleli which in itself is an experience.
